What does MTO stand for?

“Mediterranean Theatre of Operations”. You may see this term being used to refer collectively to the Warfighter North Africa and Mediterranean core boxes and the expansions.

Why are there two core sets for the Warfighter Mediterranean release, rather than a single one?

The quick answer is that Southern Europe / Italy and the Sahara Desert are uniquely different settings, in terms of weather, geography, and their history and the types of battles which were fought there, just as Western Europe has already been covered in its own box and expansions. By having a core set for each region, we can represent each area’s terrain and setting with the right thematic elements to tell its story. It also allows us to build expansions and battlepacks on top of the matching base set with the right ingredients.

How are these MTO sets different from the current Europe and Pacific WW2 releases?

The North Africa and Mediterranean sets will have a very different feel from the European and Pacific sets, as well as each other. The Mission, Locations and Objectives have been designed to reflect the terrain and weather of each setting, and the Action Decks have been designed in the same way for squad actions as well. Squad management will also be different because in North Africa, as the British forces, your squad will need to adapt to the challenges of the terrain, and in Mediterranean, as the Italian army, your squad will be up against different kinds of command, supply, and equipment issues.

Why isn't the famous campaign / battle of XYZ / national force included in this wave?

The priority of the design work was creating the North Africa and Meditteranean core boxes. Alongside this, we made a longlist of national forces, campaigns and battles, from the well-known to the obscure - whichever nation, battle or campaign you’re thinking of, chances are they’re covered on the longlist.

We narrowed these into a shortlist of 18 titles which were (i) thematically interesting, (ii) would readily fit what was being done in the core boxes, and (iii) represented the diversity of forces which participated in the Mediterranean. Within these expansions, the forces which you can play include the British, New Zealanders, Australians, Free French, Greeks, Germans (Afrika Korps and Airborne) and of course, Italians (Royal Army, Airborne and Partisans.)

For large-scale campaigns like Sicily, Tobruk and Kasserine Pass, we decided to defer them to the next design phase because these were too epic to be represented by just one or two decks of battle packs. Warfighter is, at heart, a squad-level game about Soldiers, and these campaigns serve as a sweeping background against which their stories are told, and daring missions executed.

To do these justice, we are considering using either a new “campaign pack” system, or as a series of interlinked decks, in order to capture the breadth and depth of these stories. If a single expansion or battle pack is like a “movie”, doing these as a campaign pack or linked decks would be a “mini-series”, with expanded storylines and character progression over a longer timeline.

Are any American forces included in this MTO wave?

There are no American forces in this release, as they are already very well represented in the existing Warfighter WW2 series being present in two core boxes, in addition to multiple expansion sets and battle packs. We do have plans for future expansions with American forces in the MTO setting.

I am an experienced Warfighter player. Are there any changes to the Warfighter rules with these new titles?

The MTO core box and expansions will not affect anything in the existing rules or cards. They will introduce Situation cards (also known as SitRep in Warfighter Modern) and Service Record Cards into a core box for the first time, which are already in the current rules. Most of the changes to the rules will be rule clarifications, and rewording some text for clarity.

Will the cards from the core box and expansions in this campaign fit into an Ammo Box / Card Crate?

Yes, it will fit comfortably. There are approximately about 1600 cards in total (possibly more, depending stretch goals) from the core and expansion sets. A deck of 100 cards has a storage length of 1.5 in, so 1600 cards will come to 24 in.

Allowing for premium sleeves (90 microns), 1600 sleeves will come to approx 6 in. The total storage requirement will be 24 + 6 = 30 in. As an Ammo Box / Card Crate has a capacity of approx. 46 in, there is more than enough sufficient storage for the MTO cards, as well as future expansions. (A sleeved, standard deck of 56 cards would be about 1 in.)

Will there be new Dividers or Ammo Box for this set?

This is still being discussed internally, depending on progress of the Kickstarter as well as backer interest.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
